Our courses are designed with everyone on the mission in mind from the pilots, the aircrews, and the agency. We know how each team member has a vital role in every scenario and we make sure our programs are tailored precisely to your needs whether the training takes place at our facility or at your home base.

Helicopter Based Rescue Patient Packaging and Treatment (BLS/ALS Considerations) Module

Our Flight Rescue Medics provide exacting, hands-on training on how to appropriately approach, contact, assess, package and treat victims in need of helicopter based rescue. This course is not a “flight medic” course, rather a comprehensive program designed to teach the rescue professional how to remove victims from hostile environments. In-depth packaging and victim positioning along with treatment considerations are at the core of this module.

Short Haul- Basic Module

Training begins with classroom work so that before you find yourself on the sharp end of a short haul line, you understand what you, the aircraft and the equipment can – and cannot – do. This includes mission planning and risk analysis so that safety is always at the forefront in the preparation of the mission.

Then we provide the trainees with a number of operational scenarios that they have to plan and execute under our guidance. At every step, the instructors provide feedback and lessons learned so that as the operation unfolds the team comes together to succeed.

Short Haul- Advance Module

The advanced module portion of the ARS Short Haul curriculum is designed around pushing the real world needs of mission specific tactics...whether that’s rescue, law enforcement or industry. Based on need, students learn basic/advanced skill sets on victim packaging, transport considerations and technical rescue.

Insertion/Extraction in to and out of the “live” operating environment will push the knowledge base and practical experience for the student during the Advanced Module. 

This course is taught by experienced rescue and law enforcement instructors with years of experience and thousands of cumulative short hauls. Our instructor cadre is comprised of people doing the jobs we teach and are required to remain active as responders and tacticians.

The Advanced Module spans an additional 12 hours (1.5 days). Successful completion of the Basic Core Module is required to participate in the Advanced Module program.

Short Haul- Pilot Module *

The Pilot Module is an intense 12 hour course dedicated to vertical reference training, mission profiling, and in-flight emergency procedure.

Our pilots have thousands of our hours in short haul specific missions. They are active in all portions of our Short Haul training modules.

*Vertical reference is a specialized flight skill. ARS assumes pilots entering the “Pilot-Module” have a background in vertical reference flying. The 12 hour training covers specifics with regards to flying HEC-Human External Cargo versus “cargo”.  The success of this training module is largely based on the pilots experience and skill level. Further pilot training may be required. ARS recommends the “Vertical Reference Core Module” for those pilots with no or low hours in this flying skill set.

S.P.I.E.-Strike Patrol Insertion/Extraction

Specializing in small group insertions: Strike Patrol Insertion/Extraction is a modern day tactical tool used to place 3-4 members of a team on target, on mission in seconds. This technique differs from traditional S.P.I.E (Special Patrol Insertion/Extraction) in regards to speed, size of aircraft used and numbers deployed. Get in, get the job done, get out in one piece.

Skid Mount Based Insertion/Extraction

(Tactical and Rescue Access)

Regardless of the mission profile, skid mounted helicopter based insertion/extraction is easier said than done. The margin for error is nonexistent. Proficiency is only achieved through expert instruction and dynamic team participation.
