Ryan Thomas served 23 years in the British Military, spending the last decade as a Hoist Operator, Rescue Swimmer (Winchman UK), and Registered Paramedic. His operational experience spans Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as well as national search and rescue (SAR) missions across the UK, supporting rescue and recovery in mountainous, coastal, and maritime environments. In 2008, he became an instructor for SAR aircrew. Over his career, he’s flown on seven helicopter types, logged over 5,400 flight hours, and completed 953 rescues, including 87 combat missions as lead paramedic aircrewman with the Medical Emergency Response Team. Since leaving the military, Ryan has continued operating in the South Atlantic, Tanzania, Kazakhstan, the UK, Ireland, the Gulf of Mexico, and other remote locations around the world.
